Norway Winter Training 2014

On Friday 14th February a party of Adults and Cadets ably led by Major Owen Williams, County Second in Command, set off for Heathrow Airport to board the aeroplane that would take them to Norway for the bi-annual Winter Training Exercise with the Norwegian Home Guard (Youth) in Oslo and Akershus District.

The training itself took place in Hiestadmoen, in the Telemark region which is approximately 2 hours South of Oslo. Our intrepid party trained alongside their Norwegian counterparts in some harsh conditions, which is typically around -15 to -20 degrees Celsius with deep snow...... Read more here.......

Nowell Cup 2014 & Inter-Services Shooting Competitions 2014

On Sunday 2nd March, Cadets from the Army Cadet Force, the Air Training Corps and Bearwood College Combined Cadet Force all assembled at Bearwood College for the Annual Nowell Cup & Inter-Services Shooting Competition 2014.

Congratulations go to the Cadets and their respective Adults who took part in two closely contested competitions. Colonel Brian Tearle, Chairman of the Berkshire Joint Services Committee, presented the Trophy's and Medals to the worthy winners at the Presentation Parade.

Visit by the High Sheriff of Berkshire

Professor Suzanna Rose JP DL, High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire visited 3 Platoon Slough on Tuesday 29th January. Professor Rose conducted an inspection of the cadets and observed first aid lessons. She also took the time to speak to most of the cadets during their mid-evening break. Visiting as well were Colonel Evan Brown, Commandant and Major Owen Williams, County Second-in-Command.

Starting Out.......

A group of completely new Potential Instructors spent an "all inclusive, action packed, fun filled" time at Bramley Weekend Training Centre during the weekend 17th to 19th January. Here they can be seen getting to grips with a Command Task which they completed successfully!


New Navigation Syllabus Training

Officers and Adult Instructors from across the County descended upon Bramley Training Area on Saturday 18th January to undergo a day of training on the new Navigation Syllabus. And just in case it rained at least Sgt Maj Horn and Sgt Maj Johnson were well prepared....!!
